Total Sacrifice

Key Verse: Romans 12:1, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

Thought to Glow: Total sacrifice is the key to living in total satisfaction.

Passage: Romans 12

Did you know in China, Olympic athletes are chosen when they are as young as six years old? From the time they are chosen, each athlete will go to special schools where they will be trained to compete and win. Everything about their lives will revolve around this. Truly, they are living sacrifices for their country.

In a similar way, God desires for us to live in total surrender to Him. The difference, unlike China, is where the children are forced to obey, God desires for His children to be willing sacrifices. God wants us to present ourselves to Him. As Christians, God has called us to be living sacrifices for His glory and kingdom, a cause far greater than the Olympics. To serve Jesus as a living sacrifice is the greatest and most wonderful sacrifice one could make. And yet, God’s Word says that if we yield ourselves to Him, we won’t lose our life, instead, we will save it (Lk. 9:23-24).

For many athletes, the motivation for their sacrifice is fame and fortune, but for the Christian, the motivation is love. Jesus, because of His love for us, has paid the penalty of our sin debt and washed us whiter than snow. It is only reasonable for us to return such love and yield ourselves to Him. Stop and think of all that Jesus has given you. Have you yielded your life as a living sacrifice to Jesus? If not, do so today.
