Comeback Stronger

Key Verse: Luke 22:32, “But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”

Thought to Glow: No matter what you have done in the past, Jesus will forgive you and wants you to live for Him.

Passage: Luke 22:14-34

Drew Brees is one of the greatest Quarterbacks in NFL history, but his comeback story makes him even greater. During the 2005 season, Brees was on fire. In Week 4, he led his team to victory over the mighty New England Patriots, he threw 19 of 24, including two touchdowns and earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week. He had a career high passing yards of 3,576 during the season. However, in the last game against the Denver Broncos, Brees tore his labrum while trying to pick up his own fumble causing a season ending and possibly career ending surgery.

However, Brees refused to quit. He decided to work harder and come back even stronger than before. He accomplished this and in January 2010, the New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts and won the Super Bowl.

You may have made some sinful mistakes in your life. You may feel like you have blown it and can do nothing for Christ. Yet, when you decide to repent of your sin and turn to God, he forgives your sin, removes it as far as the east is from the west, and forgets it completely. Why? Because He wants you to come back even stronger than before. His grace is sufficient. He forgave Peter after denying Jesus three times, He can and will forgive you. Peter came back stronger, and so can you. Simply, chose not to live in the past failures and live for Christ each day. He’s praying for you.
