Caution! Destruction Ahead

There is a desire within most people to “fit in” and to “go with the crowd.” Something within our old sinful nature craves acceptance. Has this ever happened to you? You’re hanging out with friends, having a good time, and one of your friends mentions doing something that you know is biblically wrong; yet, you go along with it? Why, because you are concerned about what your friends will think of you. This is commonly referred to as negative peer pressure. A desire [envy] to fit in. 

Throughout the Bible, God warns His children to not envy sinners (Prov. 23:17, Ps. 1, Ps. 37:1). Instead, God desires for His children to walk with Him (Gal. 5:16), to spend time with Him (Ps. 55:17), to fellowship with Him (1 John 1:3). 

Why does God warn us to stay away from them? Does He desire to rob us of fun and excitement? No, on the contrary. He commands this because of His love for us. He knows where that road ends. His Word says that the end of their path is destruction. Though we can’t see the end of the road, God can. God already knows that the path of sinners is destruction. But on the other hand, God’s path leads to pleasures and fullness of joy (Ps. 16:11).

Today, you have a choice to make. Don’t let peer pressure cause you to fall into destruction with evil men. Stay on the straight and narrow path that leads to live everlasting.
