No Excuses
Key Verse: Mark 14:8, “She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.”
Thought to Glow: No matter who you are, Jesus can and will use you if you have a willing heart.
Passage: Mark 14:1-9
Fanny Crosby was used mightily by God in the writing of poetry and hymns for God’s glory. Yet, Fanny Crosby was blinded by a man who was pretending to be a doctor. She was only six weeks old at the time. A well-meaning preacher once said to her, “I think it is a great pity that the Master did not give you sight when He showered so many other gifts upon you.” Fanny Crosby immediately responded to him, “Do you know that if at birth I had been able to make one petition, it would have been that I was born blind, because when I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior.” Fanny Crosby did not allow her blindness to stop her from serving Jesus; she gave all that she could to Jesus.
In our passage today, a woman poured a very expensive bottle of perfume on Jesus in preparation for his burial. When people complained, Jesus said, “She hath done what she could…” She didn’t let anything stop her from giving everything to Jesus. In the same way, we must live for Jesus and do what we can.
Sometimes we think that because we can’t do something great then we can’t serve Jesus; it just isn’t worth much. Yet, to Jesus, every little thing we do for His glory is beautiful in His eyes. Don’t focus on the big things, but every day decide to do what you can for Jesus.
