Small Decisions Equals Big Changes
Key Verse: Matthew 25:21, “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Thought to Glow: Be faithful in the small tasks every day.
Passage: Matthew 25:14-30
Someone once said, “Life is the sum of your choices. So, what are you doing today?” That is a good thought on which to meditate. Every day you make hundreds of decisions. You made the choice to read this devotional and the Bible today; that’s an excellent choice! Most of the decisions we make are small, seemingly inconsequential. It’s to these small choices to which Jesus is referring.
Jesus told a parable about the kingdom of heaven in Matthew 25. There were three servants. All three were given opportunities to serve their master, but only two chose to do so. The last servant was called wicked and slothful for failing to serve the master with the gifts that he was given. Let’s focus on the first two. What was it they did that was so amazing? It was making the decision to be faithful in the little things, the small tasks, the small choices. Faithfulness is seen each day; in every choice choosing to live for Jesus and glorify God in all that you do, especially the small things.
Today, stop and think about the small choices you are making. Do these small things glorify God? The way you keep your room, do your schoolwork, talk to friends, respond to your parents, read your Bible, etc.? If not, make today the day of change. Ask God to help you to be faithful over the little things, and Jesus will bless you richly.
