Lights Out
Key Verse: John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
Thought to Glow: Live in the power of the Holy Spirit and find life is incredible.
Passage: John 15:1-10
Super Bowl XLVII in 2013 was one of the most memorable Super Bowls of all-time. It was a coaching match between two brothers, Jim and John Harbaugh. But, what made it even more memorable was what happened in the 3rdquarter.
The Baltimore Ravens were destroying the San Francisco 49ers 28 to 6 when in an instant, all the lights in the New Orleans Superdome went out. For the next 34 minutes, everything ceased. A crazy power outage shut down the Super Bowl. Nothing happens without power.
The Bible tells us the Spirit of God gives us power to live the Christian life. In fact, God goes so far as to say that without Him we can do nothing. Yet, too often we live our lives without this power. We try to go about our day to day activities in our own strength and might, never realizing all that we are missing.
If we try to operate in our own strength without the power of Christ, we end of walking about in the dark. But, if we want to walk in the light and accomplish great things for Jesus, we must rely on His power and His might. Yield yourself to Christ, His Spirit, and His Word today and live in His power of strength and find life is incredible.
Oh, the Ravens held off the 49ers to win the game 34 to 31.
