Visiting any church can be a tough experience. We hope your visit to the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple will be one that is both friendly and enjoyable. We want you to be able to enjoy your worship through the music, teaching, preaching, and fellowship at our services. Here are a few answers to your question and what you might expect on your first visit.

How do I get to the church?

What can I expect on my first visit?

You can't miss our growing campus at 21453 Floralwood Drive, Howard. We're located just off Monroe Mills Road. After parking, one of our hospitality greeters will meet you and direct you to the right classes and service. They can also answer other questions you may have.

You may attend our worship service where you will enjoy the beautiful and inspiring
music of the choir, ensembles, and soloists. The music is always followed by a clear, helpful, and
challenging Bible message from Pastor Smith. This service is just over one hour in

Sunday School classes for all age levels. LifeStage Adult Bible Classes. These classes are smaller group settings where you are invited to meet people, enjoy perhaps some coffee and donuts, and hear a teaching lesson more directly applicable to your life-stage. The best way to get to know people at the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple is to visit one of these adult Bible classes.

Where do I take my children?

The children Sunday school classes and jr. church will be held in our chapel.  Jr. church will be for grades K-4 through fourth grade.  Starting with excellent nurseries, there is something special for children of all ages.  At every service there are safe, clean, and highly-staffed nurseries for children three years old and under.  For children four years old through fourth grade, there are fun, friendly, and Bible-centered classes during the morning service. These classes are staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child.

Our greeters and ushers are located around campus as well as in the lobby of the main worship center and will gladly help direct and even escort you to the right place. You can see what room your child's class is in by clicking the appropriate link: Nurseries, Toddlers, 1st–2nd Grade, 3rd–4th Grade, 5th–6th Grade.

What about my teens?

Teens are encouraged to attend the Teen Sunday School Class in the sanctuary building. Most of the teens attend a class for one hour and then a worship service another hour with their parents.

How should I dress?

There is not a dress code at the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple for members or guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit here at Baptist Temple!

Who is Pastor Curt Smith?

Pastor Curt Smith has been the Senior Pastor of the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple since October, 2016.  Previously, Pastor Smith was a youth pastor for 14 years in Mansfield, and a head pastor at Harmony Hill Baptist Church in southern Ohio for 8 years.

Am I expected to give in the offering?

No. We don't invite you to the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God's Word, and a place where you can grow in God's grace. Please don't feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.
